Tynedale Council has an adopted customer care policy and the Building Control Team pride themselves on providing a professional, helpful and friendly service to all their customers.

The Building Control section is part of the Planning Department and is located in the Old Grammar School, Hexham.
As part of the Planning Department the Building Control Team works in close liaison with the Development Control officers on matters relating to access for disabled people and means of escape from proposed buildings. This team approach also applies to other council departments and Statutory Authorities such as the Fire Brigade (Fire Prevention) with the aim of bringing together the various disciplines in a co-ordinated effort to have applications processed without any undue delays.
