Building Control
Carlisle Building Control has Quality Management Accreditation under ISO 9001: 2000. There are two teams - Area 1 (West) and Area 2 (East). All Building Control Surveyors are issued with mobile phones, and an out of hours answerphone facility is available.
Same day inspections are made, and an out of hours service can be provided by arrangement. Other functions- Safety at sports grounds, access for disabled persons, shop mobility, dangerous structures, and street naming and numbering.
Planning
The Planning Service comprises two sections covering local plans & conservation and development control.
The city has full local plan coverage. The Development Control Section operates on a twin team basis.
